| University Publishing in the New Era: Development Positioning, Path Selection, and Value Significance |

Abstract Publishing represents a business-oriented practical activity, with publishing research serving as a pioneer in business practices. In the context of high-quality development of publishing and without established precedents, publishing research activities have become increasingly vital. This study focuses on the challenges and objectives facing university publishing in the context of high-quality development in the new era, establishing a novel positioning for the development of university publishing research with comprehensive guiding significance. University publishing research exhibits distinct temporal characteristics: focusing on the main body of the university and demonstrating Chinese-characteristic university publishing principles; grounding itself in core university publishing operations while reflecting contemporary, professional, and distinctive nature of research; emphasizing the "three major systems" of independent and independent systems, and the responsibility of scientific and technological self-reliance; anchoring the high-quality development of university publishing research and the development goals of Chinese-style university publishing modernization. The publishing industry has long advocated an integrated model of production, education, and research, necessitating coordinated development across industry, academia, and research sectors. University publishing research presents distinctive characteristics of integrating it with business practices, aligning with both the discipline's practical orientation and the inherent nature of university publishing research. Therefore, university publishing needs to create a new model of integrated industry-academia-research collaboration. Regarding optimization strategies, it is essential to thoroughly examine university publishing history, cultivate a foundation for university publishing research, and cultivate historical awareness. As Croce noted, "all history is contemporary history, " suggesting historical analysis should proceed from a contemporary perspective. In the new era, national objectives emphasize constructing independent and independent "three major systems, " tracing the century-long construction and development history of China's "three major systems", with clear historical mark in publishing activities. Realigning university publishing with the pursuit of truth, thereby realizing human freedom and comprehensive development, presenting their main business responsibility, and highlighting the university spirit and university publishing spirit, is precisely the historical mission shouldered by the history of university publishing written in the new era. Therefore, regarding to people themselves, university publishers need to study university publishing history with deliberate historical consciousness while creating new historical narratives. Furthermore, advancing systematic university publishing research requires adopting holistic perspectives, incorporating research methodologies from other disciplines and industries, and implementing fundamental changes in thinking styles. The promotion of scientific research in university publishing requires adherence to the Party’s overall leadership and establishment of appropriate research concepts to maintain proper directional focus. Moreover, university publishing research serves as an important means for promoting high-quality development and facilitating international cultural exchange.
