Abstract The evaluation system serves as a critical framework and indicator for themed-publishing development in the new era, holding substantial importance for advancing publishing theory system and guiding industry practices. The realization of the themed-publishing evaluation system mainly depends on funding and awards, supplemented by market mechanisms. In practical application, its impact varies significantly among managers, practitioners, and authors. In addition, due to the inherent nature of themed-publishing, the construction of its evaluation system remains in an evolutionary phase. Research on themed-publishing should integrate theoretical and practical approaches, and summarize and analyze the fundamental principles of evaluation system construction. Based on existing evaluation models and current situations, this research explores diverse evaluation objectives, constructing systematic evaluation objects, exploring digital evaluation methods, and improving international evaluation criteria, thereby providing theoretical support and practical foundations for relevant organizations to establish comprehensive themed-publishing evaluation system. This ongoing refinement process demonstrates the industry's dedication to continuous improvement and adaptation. The analysis of the existing evaluation methods and their effects provides valuable insights for future developments and promotes high-quality themed-publishing.This paper analyzes the elements of a themed-publishing evaluation system, including evaluation objectives, objects, methods and criteria. By combining the relevant policy texts and practical observations of themed-publishing activitiesin recent years, the basic design principles and requirements of the evaluation system are clarified, serving as the foundation for specific implementation and improvement. Additionally, themed-publishing is a publishing activity with strong timeliness, applicability, and systematicness. Research on the themed-publishing evaluation system needs to be grounded in practical realities, analyze the drawbacks in the mechanism's operation, thereby identifying the direction and pathways for future improvement. The limitations of the existing themed-publishing evaluation system mainly include insufficient incentive strength of themed-publishing awards, inadequate guidance of the evaluation system for digital development, and a lack of effective mechanisms to evaluate internationalization effects, etc. Finally, in light of the design principles and existing deficiencies, this paper proposes pathways such as optimizing the structure of existing award selections, enhancing market effect assessment, exploring evaluation methods for digital products, and enriching the international evaluation system. The optimization and improvement of the themed-publishing evaluation system requires clear guiding principles and objectives. The diversification of publication types and formats ensures the evaluation framework remains inclusive of the sector's scope. Market effect evaluation integration acknowledges the significance of consumer preferences and industry dynamics in determining publishing directions. The development of robust digital and international evaluation systems ensures that the sector maintains its position at the forefront of technological and global advancements. In conclusion, the themed-publishing evaluation system serves as an essential mechanism for directing sector development and ensuring alignment with broader industry standards. Despite notable advancements, opportunities for improvement persist, particularly regarding classified, digital, and international evaluation methodologies. Through addressing these challenges and optimizing the evaluation framework, themed-publishing can maintain its growth trajectory and continue contributing to the advancement of the publishing industry.
